John Arne Riise does not want to be friends with Craig Bellamy
LFC has been the home of a lot of things, but controversy was never a big part of Anfield. However, things took a big turn on the night. It was before Liverpool beat Barcelona 2-1 in their Champions League match in 2007.
Apparently, a drunk Bellamy stormed into the hotel room of John and attacked him with a golf club. John Arne Riise and Craig Bellamy were good teammates, but John could not recover from the attack. While speaking to Ladbrokes, he said –
“I don’t have any contact with or preference to be friends with Craig Bellamy now, no, because team-mates shouldn’t do what he did to me. Team-mates argue all the time, and things happen in training, but he went too far, so he’s not a person I would like to have in my life.
I have nothing against him; he’s doing his own thing. and I saw he had a good couple of years with Vincent Kompany at Burnley.”
Although John Arne Riise wishes good luck to Craig Bellamy, he does not want to be friends with him. The Liverpool legend further went on to add, that he would never want to be connected with Bellamy.
“But he’s not a person I would like to have in my life. I can forgive, but not forget. What happened between us was forgiven a long, long, long time ago; but still, you don’t forget what he did, because it was way over the line.”
