The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly eyeing Minnesota Timberwolves’ forward/center Naz Reid as a potential target in free agency. According to NBA insiders, Reid is expected to opt out of his final year and become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The Lakers’ interest in Reid stems from their need for a frontcourt player who can space the floor and provide scoring depth.

Reid’s skills and abilities make him an attractive target for the Lakers. He has career averages of 10.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.0 assists, and he’s capable of making 3-pointers, having made 75 this season. With Luka Doncic and JJ Redick on board, the Lakers are looking to kickstart their new team into the NBA Finals.

While there’s is an official confirmation on the Lakers offering Naz Reid a 3-year, $120 million deal, Reid is expected to command a significant salary. Sources suggest he could make over $10 million a year on his next contract. In 2023, Reid signed a 3-year, $42 million extension with the Timberwolves, which included a player option for the third year.

If the Lakers can negotiate a favorable deal with Reid, he could significantly impact their postseason performance by enhancing their frontcourt strength and offering valuable scoring depth. With Jaxson Hayes currently playing 20 minutes per night as an excellent center, Reid’s addition could elevate the team.

The Lakers’ pursuit of Reid will depend on their ability to offer a competitive salary and fit him into their roster. With a weak 2025 NBA free agency class, Reid’s services are likely to be in high demand. Will the Lakers be able to secure his services.
