Kentucky’s July team trip wasn’t just about bonding, sightseeing, and taking in NBA Summer League action. It also included a meaningful show of support that has Wildcats fans talking.
While head coach Mark Pope and his staff were in Las Vegas evaluating prospects during the July live recruiting period, Kentucky’s entire roster made its way to Nike EYBL Session Four to watch five-star commit Ryan Hampton in action.
The Wildcats had already packed their trip with activities, including a Kenny Chesney concert at the Sphere, practices, and time together around Las Vegas. But one stop stood out above the rest as the players gathered courtside to cheer on one of the future faces of the program.
Hampton, who committed to Kentucky in June, is the highest-rated high school commitment of the Mark Pope era. The 6-foot-6 standout is ranked No. 18 overall in the 2027 class and is considered one of the nation’s premier shooting guards.
His play has backed up the hype throughout the EYBL season. Averaging 21.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game through 12 contests, Hampton has established himself as one of the event’s top performers. After beginning the circuit with LivOn, he later joined Nightrydas and has continued to produce at a high level.
Kentucky’s players watched Hampton compete during his second game of the Las Vegas session, giving the future Wildcat an unforgettable show of support. Their presence reflected the strong team culture Pope is working to build, where current players are already embracing the next generation before they even arrive on campus.
For Hampton, seeing an entire Kentucky roster in attendance was more than just encouragement from the stands. It was a clear sign that he is already viewed as part of the Wildcats’ family, making his future arrival in Lexington feel even closer.
