Mark Pope is giving Kentucky fans another reason to get excited this offseason, and this time it has nothing to do with recruiting or summer practices. Instead, the Wildcats head coach is putting the spotlight on Big Blue Nation with a unique contest that gives one lucky fan the chance to win front-row seats to Big Blue Madness.
Earlier this offseason, Pope invited Kentucky fans to ask him questions on social media. More than 5,000 questions poured in, and he answered many of them through a series of online videos. The interactive idea was a huge success and further strengthened the connection between Pope and the fanbase.
Now, the coach is switching roles.
In a video posted to his X account, Pope sprinted to the top of Rupp Arena’s upper level—a workout he joked was inspired by the demanding conditioning drills Rick Pitino had him do during his playing days at Kentucky. Once he reached the top, he challenged Wildcats fans with a simple question:
“What’s your least favorite thing your coach ever made you do?”
The best response won’t just earn bragging rights. Pope announced that his favorite answer will receive two front-row tickets to this year’s Big Blue Madness, giving one fan an unforgettable opportunity to experience one of Kentucky basketball’s biggest annual events from the best seats in the arena.
The contest is another example of Pope’s commitment to engaging with the Big Blue Nation. Since arriving in Lexington, he has consistently looked for ways to connect with fans beyond the basketball court. Whether it was buying ice cream for supporters after a postgame show or helping cover gas costs for fans traveling to watch Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament, Pope has made fan appreciation a priority.
This latest giveaway continues that tradition while encouraging Kentucky supporters to share their own memorable stories from their playing days.
The timing couldn’t be better.
Excitement surrounding the Wildcats continues to build as Pope prepares for his second season with what many believe is his strongest roster yet. Kentucky addressed several key needs during the offseason, adding talented newcomers while returning important contributors, creating optimism that the Wildcats can take a major step forward after last season’s disappointing finish.
With expectations rising and Big Blue Madness approaching, the atmosphere around the program is expected to be electric. For one fortunate fan, that excitement will be experienced from the front row.
