Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats continue to stay active on the recruiting trail, and their latest move could end up being a huge one for the future of the program.
Kentucky officially offered 5-star small forward DeMarcus Henry on Friday after the elite prospect delivered an impressive performance during Nike EYBL Session II in Memphis.
The 6-foot-7 Arizona native is considered one of the top players in the 2027 recruiting class. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Henry is ranked No. 14 nationally, the No. 5 small forward in the country, and the No. 3 overall player in Arizona.
Coach Mark Pope and members of the Kentucky staff were in attendance to watch Henry in action, and the talented wing made sure to leave a strong impression. He exploded for 25 points during EYBL play, showcasing his scoring ability, athleticism, and versatility on both ends of the floor.
Not long after the standout performance, Kentucky extended an official scholarship offer.
Henry later reacted to the news on social media, saying:
“After a great conversation with Coach Mark Pope, I’m thankful to receive an offer from the University of Kentucky.”
The rising star had already been turning heads before Session II began. During Session I of the EYBL circuit, Henry averaged 16.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting nearly 49 percent from the field.
Kentucky now becomes the first traditional blue blood program to offer Henry, which could be a significant development in his recruitment moving forward.
Several other schools are already involved as well, including Oregon, Ohio State, Washington, BYU, LSU, USC, Arizona State, and Oklahoma State.
Henry also carries a well-known football legacy. He is the son of the late Chris Henry, the former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver who starred at West Virginia before spending six seasons in the NFL.
Mark Pope’s recruiting approach has been aggressive since taking over at Kentucky, and landing a player with Henry’s talent level would be another major statement for the Wildcats’ future.
