Mark Pope and the Kentucky coaching staff are officially back on the recruiting trail as the first live summer evaluation period begins this weekend, with the Wildcats expected to spend significant time at the Nike EYBL circuit in Memphis.
The event, which tips off Friday afternoon, gives Kentucky an important opportunity to evaluate some of the nation’s top young talent while continuing to build relationships with future recruiting targets in both the 2027 and 2028 classes.
Among the names expected to draw Kentucky’s attention are 2027 prospects CJ Rosser, Ryan Hampton, Reese Alston, and Chase Lumpkin, who recently picked up an offer from the Wildcats. Kentucky has already been heavily involved with several of those players and will continue pushing to strengthen its position during the live period.
One younger prospect generating buzz is 2028 standout Kam Mercer, who has already visited Lexington and remains a player to monitor closely throughout the weekend.
Kentucky’s staff may also make appearances at the Adidas 3SSB circuit, making this a busy and potentially important few days for the future of the program.
While Mark Pope’s transfer portal additions have already reshaped the current roster, this weekend represents one of the first major opportunities for the new-look staff to establish momentum with future recruiting classes. Assistant coach Mo Williams, in particular, is expected to play a major role as he begins recruiting on the road as part of Kentucky’s staff for the first time.
Big Blue Nation has spent much of the offseason focused on portal additions and NBA Draft decisions, but the spotlight now shifts toward the future as Kentucky begins laying the foundation for the next generation of Wildcats.
At the same time, Kentucky continues monitoring major roster developments involving NBA Draft prospects Malachi Moreno and Iowa State transfer Milan Momcilovic. Momcilovic recently admitted Kentucky would be a “good fit” if he decides to withdraw from the draft, praising Mark Pope’s offensive system and style of play.
With recruiting activity heating up and several major decisions looming, the next few weeks could significantly shape Kentucky basketball’s future heading into the 2026-27 season.
