The Sunday Mirror reports that a compromise has been reached by both parties in news that will come as a huge relief to millions of Reds fans around the world. Salah’s financial demands were never an issue in negotiations, rather it was the length of the extension that the two parties were far apart on.
Liverpool was initially only willing to offer Salah a one-year renewal, while Salah wanted a three-year deal. Barring any last-minute hiccups, the Egyptian will end up penning a two-year contract at Anfield.

Salah’s comments after Liverpool’s win at Southampton in November, when he said he was “more out than in” having yet to receive a concrete offer to renew his Reds contract, appear to have had the desired impact.

Salah has long since established himself as a Liverpool legend, but his new deal means he will have a chance to break more records in the years ahead.

Salah would likely have been able to command tens of millions of dollars from any interested club with the appropriate financial resources, and his decision to stay at Anfield is proof of just how much he loves playing for Liverpool, and how much he wants to continue to represent the Reds.
