Michael Dawson has predicted the outcome of Manchester City’s massive match with Liverpool.
Manchester City take on their great rivals in what is set to be a heavyweight clash for the ages on Sunday.
It’s all on the line in the Premier League title race as Pep Guardiola’s side could go top if they pick up the three points.
However, Liverpool would stretch their lead to four should they be victorious while a draw would open the door for Arsenal to move top if they beat Brentford on Saturday.
Liverpool may be severely depleted, with up to nine players sidelined through injury, but City have a terrible record at Anfield.
The Blues have managed just one win on the red half of Merseyside in over 20 years and that was when no fans were in the stadium.
It’s a daunting place to go but City must get the win if they want to put destiny into their own hands.
Michael Dawson makes his prediction
Former Tottenham defender Michael Dawson has made his prediction for the game. Speaking on the Sky Sports Football Podcast, he said: “Huge, huge game.
“You look at the games City have got coming up as well with Arsenal.
“I think City will win the league, I’ve said that, but they’ve got two weeks now where it is absolutely massive. It’s huge for them.
“Arsenal obviously in a couple of weeks, they’ve got Chelsea as well. All these games coming up in a few weeks but this one at the weekend.
“I think it’s huge for Liverpool, it’s massive to have Salah back involved with the squad.
“I go for a draw. A score draw by the way, I don’t see it being 0-0 that’s for sure.”
Both teams are weakened going into the game
Guardiola was typically coy on the fitness of his injured players ahead of the match so it’s not yet certain if his squad will be boosted by any returns.
Jack Grealish is expected to remain sidelined, though, as he continues to recover from the groin strain he suffered against Luton Town.
Jeremy Doku missed Wednesday’s 3-1 win over FC Copenhagen with a knock and it’s not clear if he will be fit.
That could leave City short on options for the left wing slot, especially if Matheus Nunes can’t play after suffering a nasty finger injury midweek.
However, Liverpool have it much worse. Ibrahima Konate went off injured on Thursday while Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, Alisson, Joel Matip, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Thiago and Stefan Bajcetic are all out.
