As the summer transfer window draws closer, the Premier League rumors will ramp up. And one Bayern Munich star has supposedly put Liverpool and others on ‘red alert’ after rejecting the chance to sign a new contract.
Jamal Musiala, the young Bayern Munich star, has reportedly declined an offer from his current club, setting the stage for a possible transition to England’s top-tier football league. Liverpool and Manchester City are rumored to be at the forefront of this pursuit, according to the Daily Star.
Musiala’s performances, including against Bayer Leverkusen recently, have caught the attention of both teams, further fueling speculation about his future. Despite Bayern’s generous offer of a weekly $190k (£150k/€175k) contract, Musiala appears to be seeking new horizons, leading to conjecture about his departure from the Bundesliga giant this July.
Manchester City got wind of this development last week and seems optimistic about securing Musiala’s services, the report states. However, Liverpool might have other plans and could disrupt Pep Guardiola’s intentions of bringing the German international to Etihad Stadium.
Chelsea, another Premier League bigwig and Musiala’s former youth club, is also said to be interested in reacquiring the 21-year-old playmaker. However, unless its secures a victory in the FA Cup and a spot in the Europa League, Chelsea’s chances of convincing Musiala to return to Stamford Bridge over choosing Anfield or Etihad seem slim.
Musiala still has two years remaining on his existing contract with Bayern Munich. If he decides to move on, he won’t come cheap: his transfer, according to the report, will cost no less than $100m (£80m/€93m). Additionally, his weekly wages are expected to be in the ballpark of $253k (£200k/€233k).
