Liverpool kept their title hopes firmly alive and well after Darwin Nunez scored a 99th minute winner to send the away end into raptures at Nottingham Forest.
Nunez rose to nod in a cross from Alexis Mac Allister to ensure Liverpool kept up their remarkable run of form in recent months. Nunez’s goal was enough to keep Liverpool top of the table and put the pressure firmly back on Arsenal and Man City.
Of course, a late winner is always going to go down well in any game and just like last weekend when they pinched the cup final in added time, there were scenes on the touchline once again.
Shared by the BBC’s Paul Robinson, it seems Liverpool’s bench went into overdrive once more after Nunez had nodded home with the BBC man describing the scenes as ‘bedlam’.
“Wow! What a finish, they never stop and they never give up – a sign of true champions. The Liverpool bench has exploded, absolute bedlam. Darwin Nunez has got his side the most vital three points,” Robinson said.
Nunez so important for Liverpool
If ever there was a defining moment in this Liverpool title chase then today might just have been it.
For Liverpool to win today in such dramatic fashion after not really being in the game in terms of winning it like in recent weeks, showed tremendous bottle.
The Reds look like a team who might well be able to get over the line this season if other results can go their way a touch as well.
And in Darwin Nunez, they have a striker now who is capable of delivering massive moments for them and winning games with big moments.
Jurgen Klopp will be one happy man and Liverpool fans will be heading back from Nottingham absolutely delighted with what they’ve seen.
