Liverpool are looking to tie down the son of a Premier League star, who has become their academy’s ‘top prospect’ with an incredible 90 goals in one season.
Meet 17-year-old striker Keyrol Figueroa, who has gained a significant reputation within the Liverpool academy, and many tip the teenager to be the next breakthrough star at Anfield.
Born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, the striker isn’t the first footballer in his family, as he is the son of former Premier League defender Maynor Figueroa.
The former Wigan man enjoyed a respectable career in England, playing 179 Premier League games for the Latics between 2008 and 2015.
The youngster has already demonstrated his goal-scoring prowess with an unheard-of 90 goals in one season for Liverpool’s U13s and U14s teams.
Figueroa has had a promising start to 2024 for Liverpool at the underage level, recording four goal contributions in his last three appearances in the Under-18 Premier League.
Liverpool are keen to tie Figueroa down to a long-term deal, and reports from Diario Diez claim the club have been working hard to make a deal since the turn of the year.
It would be surprising if personal terms are an issue for Figueroa, as Liverpool’s recent Carabao Cup success was a clear demonstration of the pathway created for academy players to the first team.
