Manchester United’s blockbuster showdown with arch-rivals Liverpool next month will kick-off at a unique time.
Erik ten Hag’s men are no strangers to schedule tweaks, with their trip to the Etihad this weekend also moved to an odd time.
Similarly, Liverpool’s Carabao Cup final triumph over Chelsea was moved forward from the originally scheduled time.
Now the two teams will have to adapt once again, with kick-off on Sunday, April 7 going ahead at 3:30pm.
United’s second meeting with Liverpool this term initially had a placeholder slot during the 3pm blackout on Saturday, April 6.
Having been picked for TV coverage by Sky Sports, fans would have expected the game to kick-off during their 4:30pm slot on Super Sunday.
That was the kick-off time the reverse meeting at Anfield took place, with the Red Devils battling to secure a goalless draw on enemy turf.
Liverpool had 34 shots during that December clash but failed to score, and it remains one of only two games all season that the club have failed to win at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have since enjoyed a fruitful start to 2024, top of the Premier League and having claimed the first domestic honour.
But a trip to Old Trafford seven games before the end of the season is likely to prove decisive, with Klopp’s only away trip to United under Ten Hag coming in a 2-1 defeat.
