I thought the referee was awful in the final. When you get a tackle like the one on Gravenberch from Caicedo, and nothing gets done about it.
It’s unbelievable. Whether it was not meant or not, you only need to look back to Curtis Jones against Spurs.
That is a shocking tackle. Caicedo was out of control. It’s a red card that has not been given, in my opinion. I think Van Dijk’s disallowed goal was a really bad decision too. I do, I really do. It spoiled the game for me.
Even their goal when it got disallowed. I saw it was offside, he was offside. And I’m at the back of the goal. But it takes them four minutes to make the decision.
Liverpool decision no-one else would
He’s offside, it’s not hard. That apart, they tried their best to not give Liverpool whatever they were credited. The Virgil van Dijk disallowed goal, he dissected it so wrong.
I’ve had enough of VAR now, like everyone. I don’t think they’re going to stop it, but I’ve had enough of it. I’d rather the referees made genuine errors than this.
I’ve had enough. It spoiled the game, it spoiled the final. That’s the first time I’ve been at a final and VAR’s been like that. It spoils the game and it spoils it for the fans as well.
It was a poor performance from the officials, but it didn’t stop us getting what we deserved at the end of the day.
Unsung hero deserves credit
The manner we did it against multi-million pound players on ridiculous wages a week was incredible too.
Eight year contracts up against our kids fighting for a contract. That shows you the difference. Absolutely amazing.
Alex Inglethorpe perhaps goes largely unnoticed but he’s a smashing guy and he’s done brilliantly since he’s been at the club. The players he’s helped bring through have been fantastic.
He’s fair, everybody likes him about the place, and he deserves credit for what’s gone on. Since they changed it all and he’s come in, the players that have come through. Wow, unbelievable.
Alex has done brilliantly, let’s not forget him. The Academy has brought players through, nurtured them, and the rest is history. The coaching’s been great and they introduce them to the first team at the right time.
One down, three to go
We’ve now got three more trophies to go for. But the problem we have is the injuries. It’s ridiculously problematic for Jurgen now.
We’ve got to find a way to see ourselves through in the FA Cup against Southampton. We want another day out! And then it’ll be tough against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
It’s a really tricky one and we need Szoboszlai, Nunez, and Salah back. Just to solidify the squad. To get us through to the quarter-finals, to get us three points at Forest.
Then you look ahead at the next games that come. Sparta Prague in the Europa League and Man City.
You’ve just got to trust in Jurgen. I remember when we beat Everton 1-0 in the cup. I couldn’t believe the team that Jurgen put out and Curtis Jones scored that screamer.
You’re probably looking at Kelleher, Quansah will come in. Bradley’s a young lad, he’ll be okay. You’ve got Tsimikas or Robbo, you’ve got Gomez. There’s Diaz, Gakpo.
But then we might struggle a little bit. Hopefully Endo is fit. The young lads who played will be involved somewhere too – Clark, McConnell, Danns. It’s another great opportunity for them.
And playing back at Anfield after helping Liverpool win the League Cup, it could be another night to remember.
