The search for Jurgen Klopp’s successor is in full swing at Liverpool. So far, one name seems to stand out above the rest.Klopp is set to leave the club at the end of the season and Manchester United will have to appoint a new manager for the first time in almost nine years this summer. Germany will still be looking to progress in style with four trophies up for grabs. But while he and his players are fully focused on a potential top four finish, fans’ minds are already on who could be on the move in the coming months.
Current favorite Xabi Alonso secured his bid with a 3-0 win over Bayern Munich this weekend to move Bayer Leverkusen five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. But Alonso isn’t the only name on the list, there are updates on two more suitors who could be of interest to Liverpool fans. Here’s today’s latest search for the new Reds manager, with a focus on Ruben Amorim and Thomas Frank.
Ruben Amorim (Sporting)Barcelona sporting director Deco has ruled out Ruben Amorim as the next Camp Nou coach. Like Liverpool, the Catalan club are looking for a new manager after Xavi announced he will step down at the end of the season.
Amorim has been linked with both the Reds and Barca, but the latter may not be interested. On a recent trip to his native Portugal, Deco appeared to alienate the Sporting CP boss.”I know Ruben Amorim will do well at Sporting and he is similar to Barcelona,” he said, according to SPORT. “But I think he has very little experience.”Thomas Frank (Brentford)Thomas Frank has ruled out becoming Liverpool’s next manager.
The Brentford boss has been linked with Klopp’s successor, who has performed well for the London club. According to the Mirror, Frank is on Liverpool’s shortlist, but the Dane is not ahead of him.
“There are a lot of rumours,” Frank told Sky Sports. I think we have a kind of ego and that ego likes sugar, but at the end of the day I’m with Brentford. I am very happy here. “Do I have ambition?” Yes. Will I stay in Brentford forever? It could be, but it’s not likely. So who knows what the future holds? “All I know is that I’m here in Brentford and I’m very happy.”
