Robbie Musto says he has one Liverpool player he wants to make good after Saturday’s win over Burnley at Anfield. Liverpool won again on Test Day under Jurgen Klopp. On another day, Burnley could have made life much harder for the Premier League leaders. But the Reds wanted to punish their opponents.
Darwin Nunes was also one of the players on the score sheet. The Uruguayan scored his eighth league goal of the season with a superb header in the second half. But again, that didn’t quite tell the story of the 24-year-old’s afternoon.
Pundit Darwin wants to see Nunes prove himself at Liverpool Nunes missed some good opportunities before scoring. So it’s no wonder he hasn’t silenced all his critics yet. But speaking on The 2 Robbies podcast, Robbie Musto revealed what the striker has to do on Merseyside.
“Darwin Nunes is a player I really like, but I don’t know why,” he said. “I like his attitude, I like his speed, I like his pressure and I hope he does well because he’s a great teammate who works really hard for the team.” It’s annoying to always be behind.“To be honest, his finishing frustrates him at times, but it’s a great header.
“It will help his confidence.”Even if the strikers are not productive, they still score goals.Liverpool can give Nunes time to continue to develop. Mohamed Salah has had an incredible season. When Salah arrived on the international stage, Diogo Jota was a great player.
Luis Diaz even ensured that all three attackers found the back of the net on Saturday. According to FBRef, Nunes has completed more shots per 90 minutes than any other Premier League player this season. So you could say it’s a waste. However, only Manchester City and Arsenal players have scored more league goals this season than Nunes.
So he needs to improve that aspect of his game, but it doesn’t look like the Reds are to blame. Instead, he wants to transform himself from a great striker to a world-class player. And it certainly has potential.
