His corner was headed in by Diogo Jota, his fourth Premier League assist of the season. More importantly, it was Alexander-Arnold’s 58th assist in the league. This is a new record for assists by a defender, surpassing Andy Robertson. Most assists by a defender in Premier League history
Interestingly, the Liverpool duo are also the only active players in the top ten. The fact that they are both #1 and #2 shows how revolutionary they are. There has never been a quarterback like him. And Liverpool’s number 66 can create an insurmountable lead.
Alexander-Arnold is only 25 years old and will probably play in the Premier League for at least another 10 years. How long until then?Of course, we can’t be 100% certain that Alexander-Arnold will receive all of his passes as a defender, and it’s worth noting that many of those passes were made with him in midfield.
There are certainly questions about his future position. However, it’s safe to say that Alexander-Arnold has proven himself to be a defender. He can now aim for the all-time assist record. He is currently 26th on the all-time list with only six active players ahead of him.
Alexander-Arnold should move up this list straight away and will definitely be in the top 10 when all is said and done. Alexander-Arnold is a special player and has been a key player for Liverpool for a long time. But the biggest question is how the new manager will use it. He is the greatest right back of all time, but is this his future?
