Liverpool will be looking to hit back when they take on Burnley at Anfield this weekend. United lost away to the capital after losing 3-1 to Arsenal last weekend and will be looking to bounce back at home against a side who have struggled to get back into the Premier League.Jurgen Klopp’s side will find that any slump at this stage of the season will be costly.
Especially with Manchester City in the game and three points from Saturday’s game. In anticipation of this upcoming clash, four Liverpool fans share their thoughts in the ECHO’s weekly fan column.
I don’t think anything will change for Manchester United after their goalless loss to Arsenal last weekend. Looking back at the start of the season, any Liverpool fan would have broken their arm and been in the position they are in today, even if Manchester City had the game in hand and were in a position to take advantage.
We need to win again against Burnley on Saturday and if one of our title rivals makes a mistake we will be ready to take any opportunity we can.
Klopp knows we have a chance of going top if we beat City at Anfield next month. Especially considering that he still has to play Arsenal. Let’s put the scores on the board and see how far we go. When Klopp planned to leave, some thought he would spoil Liverpool’s season. That didn’t happen. At least not yet. Wins against Norwich and Chelsea showed that the team was energized by the event rather than exhausted by it. This team will continue to get on Klopp’s nerves. The game against Chelsea was probably the best game of the season. It was full of fighting and cruelty. But against Arsenal the level clearly dropped.
Arsenal wanted more. They were aggressive in the press, dynamic in games and eager to win. The drop in performance can be explained by some players coming back from injury, players needing time to sync up, or new players who haven’t joined the team yet. We’ll be fit even if Manchester City come out on top in the tall grass. There will be more twists and turns in this competition, more twists and turns for Liverpool and more consistent and inconsistent performances. Our emotions and passion can make the difference in the final stages of a race. The fans will no doubt be disappointed after dropping three points at the Emirates. We were cruising along and seemed invincible. But as I said before, the season is long and difficult.
There will be fists and claws that will tear at your emotions. Doubt naturally lands on one or both shoulders and leads to unanswered questions. The great thing about being a football fan is that just when your doubts start to fade, there’s another game on the horizon that can give you hope. We will then see a series of matches that, at least on paper, will eliminate many inconveniences. In the end, a fierce challenge awaits to decide the title. What is special about this season is that we did everything we could to overcome what we lacked last season and showed determination and resilience. Solved by the improv team.
The injury was not debilitating. Barring some questionable decisions by some race officials, there will be a buffer between us and the rest of the pack. The trial is scheduled to continue Saturday. I’m looking for a strong red to send a message to the record crowd.Saturday’s clash with Burnley is a highly anticipated game. The prospect of a crowd of nearly 60,000 at Anfield and breaking the league attendance record in the process is exciting.Every day can become more precious.
Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal was a shock. To be honest, the Gunners did very well to win. We haven’t always done much good for ourselves. There seemed to be no edge, no danger, no sense of edge, but that reflects the standard set so far this season.
