Liverpool are once again sweating over Thiago Alcantara’s fitness after the midfielder picked up an injury. The Spaniard, who made his first appearance since Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in April 2023, suffered a setback during his stay at the Emirates and could miss Saturday’s Premier League clash with Burnley at Anfield.
He is expected to start alongside Dominik Szoboszlai after the Hungarian midfielder picked up another injury against Newcastle United on New Year’s Day. Szoboszlai first returned to action against Norwich at the end of last month but could miss the Reds’ game on Saturday.
However, the return of Wataru Endo will further increase Jurgen Klopp’s options. The defensive midfielder has missed almost all of Liverpool’s games since January due to his participation in the Asian Cup in Qatar. Saturday’s game will be crucial in the Premier League title race, with Liverpool knowing they could start at Anfield for the first time since November, behind Manchester City in the table.
With that in mind, here’s the latest injury news from Anfield.
Thiago Alcantara
Jurgen Klope will fully update Thiago Alcantara at a press conference on Friday morning, and Red will continue to sweat. The 32 -year -old boy was separated from the wounds at the hip and now he seems to return to the treatment room of the Venee Axis in northern London. Liverpool are understood to have given no further details on Thiago’s condition and possible recovery time.

Mohamed salah
Mohamed Salah’s return from injury is not expected to be far off as he continues his rehabilitation at the AXA Training Centre. The 31-year-old striker made an early return to action at the Africa Cup of Nations against Egypt after injuring his thigh in the 2-2 draw with Ghana on 18 January.
Salah’s adviser Rami Abbas later said the injury was more serious than initially feared and would keep him out for 21 to 28 days. Given this period, Salah could be ready to return to action when Liverpool travel to the G-Tech Community Stadium later this month.

Ibrahim Konate
The Frenchman was sent off for two fouls in the second half of Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal. He was suspended for one game against Burnley but will be available for next weekend’s qualifier against Brentford.

Dominik Szoboszlai
Before the main match at “Arsenal” there were rumors that the Hungarian captain did not go to the capital with the “Liverpool” team. And Klopp confirmed before kick-off that Szoboszlai had re-injured the injury he picked up in the New Year’s win against Newcastle United.
“Dom felt he was in an area where he had been injured before, or very similar,” said the Reds manager. “When he wasn’t in the game (in the win against Chelsea) he was fine, after the game (he felt it) so we looked at him and there was no way he was going to play that game.”We cannot take risks. We’ll have to wait for further evaluation, but it looks like he won’t be there today.
“A new report suggests the Hungarian midfielder could be out for almost a month. The ECHO’s Ian Doyle posted the following on social media: “Some confusion about Dominic Sbosboszlai’s injury absence. Last night, the Hungarian newspaper, which had hinted at a month-long break, backtracked slightly, saying the waiting period had not yet been determined. “Liverpool haven’t set a date yet.”Klopp is likely to provide a further update on Szoboszlai’s status at a press conference later this week.
Expected Return Date: Unknown
Costas Tsimikas
Kostas Tsimikas will return to Liverpool after six weeks away. Left-back Bukayo suffered a serious collision with Saka during the 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Anfield in December and subsequently required surgery on his collarbone.
Klopp recently revealed news about Tsimikas. “Cost (Kostas Tsimikas) is close. Costi is actually healthy. Costi will now have to wait for approval as the bones take much longer to heal, but the plate is now doing its job.”The Greece international appears to be in full training ahead of Sunday’s clash at the Emirates. This means he will be available for this weekend’s game against Burnley.
Expected return date: Burnley (H), February 10
