Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has been told to think twice before choosing Liverpool as his next manager.The Spaniard has been linked with a hot spot at Anfield following Jurgen Klopp’s departure.
With Alonso still a young manager, former team-mate Glen Johnson believes Klopp has too much to overcome if he is to succeed.
Johnson told Betfred: “It’s a very difficult situation because basically every manager that comes in puts their head in a guillotine. “They expect it because if they maintain the same level of success, people will say, ‘You should, because you’ve inherited a great team at a good time.’
You may be setting yourself up for failure. “I think that’s what turns a lot of celebrities off. I think the next manager will come and hire one for the team.”
