Liverpool have short-listed two candidates to replace outgoing manager Jurgen Klopp this summer. Jurgen Klopp announced in January that he would be leaving the Premier League club after joining in 2015.It is no surprise that Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is tipped as the favorite to replace Klopp before the start of next season.
The Liverpool legend has done a great job for Bayer Leverkusen, who are two points clear of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga With Alonso linked with both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in recent weeks, United could compete to sign him. Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim emerged as an alternative to Alonso.
According to journalist Gianluigi Longari, Alonso and Amorim are candidates for a move to Liverpool this summer.
“Liverpool bank review underway,” Longari wrote to X.”There are many candidates, but Xabi Alonso is first on LFC’s list. “Among the alternatives considered by the men, the name of Ruben Amorim, currently in charge of Sporting, stands out.”Records show Amorim has set a schedule to consider offers from other teams. After the season, interested parties are expected to meet with the coach and the agency to discuss the next steps in his coaching career.
Liverpool is not the only club linked to Amorim. The 39-year-old footballer previously played for Chelsea and Manchester United. Alonso has revealed why former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann is the perfect choice to succeed Klopp.”I think if anyone can do it, it’s Xabi,” Hamann told talkSPORT. “He is loved by the people, he was a great player and what he is doing at Leverkusen is special.”Obviously there is a risk of Klopp leaving and the pressure and expectations will be high.
But if they stay together I think we will have a team capable of going to the Premier League next season. “People say [Roberto] De Zerbi, [Anjou] Postecoglou, Liverpool are different and he [Alonso] knows what the club is about. The fans love him. “I think he would be a very good choice for me, I’m not sure if he sees things the same way. “If you look at Liverpool, they are a special, special club. I think Klopp’s success will depend on his relationships with the players, the fans and the city. “He changed the mindset of an entire city.
“Whoever takes over at Liverpool will have huge responsibilities to fulfil. Klopp’s relationship with both fans and players is something most clubs around the world can’t match. Liverpool fans expect the same from their next manager. The work Klopp has done over the past nine years at Liverpool in terms of player development, squad building and work ethic will stand to benefit the club’s future manager.
The next manager will have an easier task than when Klopp joined the club in 2015.The German manager won seven trophies with Manchester United, including a Premier League and a Champions League. Klopp’s next move is currently being discussed in various media outlets. The former manager believes the Spanish giants will move to Barcelona.
