Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed what it was like in the Liverpool dressing room when they heard the news of Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of the season. Reds right-back Alexander-Arnold admitted it was “not nice” to hear the man who has been at the helm of the club since breaking into the first-team squad will leave this summer.
But the England international said he would do all he could to support Klopp’s public bus parade before saying goodbye to Liverpool for good.
The German manager has confirmed he will step down as Liverpool manager after nine years at Anfield. Klopp has admitted that he no longer has the energy to perform at the level Liverpool need after the current season. As things stand, Liverpool are two points ahead of nearest Premier League rivals Manchester City and Arsenal, but have played more games than Pep Guardiola’s side.
Their meeting on March 9 is considered the biggest title match of the season. The red half of Merseyside face the League Cup final against Chelsea later this month and the last 16 of the FA Cup and Europa League. Alexander-Arnold and Klopp have a good working relationship, with Klopp previously insisting that the decision to integrate the right-back into the first team was his “best signing” at Liverpool.
The 25-year-old has since spoken out about his manager’s departure. “I was as surprised as everyone else,” explained Alexander-Arnold. “It was a big surprise for all of us. It’s definitely not fun, but of course it’s a personal decision he has to make. It must be respected. Give us your opinion! Will Liverpool bid farewell to Klopp? Please leave your comments below
