Liverpool, PSG and Barcelona are all interested in Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, but Manchester City could end up signing him. Joshua Kimmich has been with Bayern Munich since 2015, but his current contract with the club expires in 2025 and there is little chance of him signing a new contract. Bayern are still trying to agree a new contract with him, but if nothing happens, Bayern will consider selling him this summer.
Kimmich’s current situation has attracted a lot of attention and some big clubs are keen to sign him, but Man City are likely to lead the battle. Barcelona could be in a dead end as they cannot afford to pay a huge transfer fee for Joshua Kimmich. So, wait until the summer of 2025 when the midfielder becomes a free agent. However, if contract negotiations do not progress, Liverpool, Manchester City and PSG are all planning to move at the end of the season as they can sign Kimmich on a contract basis.
The central midfielder is currently worth 75 million euros, but if he is sold this summer, Bayern will not be able to offer more than 55-60 million euros for him. Joshua Kimmich played under Pep Guardiola in his early days at Bayern and the Manchester City manager was able to use his connections to bring the midfielder to the Etihad Stadium. City missed out on Declan Rice last summer, while Matheus Nunes and Calvin Phillips failed to make the cut.
Recruiting a new central midfielder is therefore a priority for the European champions. Liverpool, PSG and possibly Barcelona will all try to sign Joshua Kimmich in the summer transfer window, but joining MCFC is his best option. Phillips and Nunes have no future at the club and Mateo Kovacic is a substitute, so Kimmich could play alongside Rodri in central midfield. But it is still too early. As the German footballer has not expressed any dissatisfaction with Bayern, it is likely that the contract will be renewed.
