Jamie Carragher has revealed one thing Liverpool and Arsenal must do to stop Manchester City from becoming Premier League champions this season. Jurgen Klopp halved his side’s lead as the Gunners handed the Reds their second league defeat of the season at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Champions City beat Brentford 3-1 on Monday night to move into second place, one point behind Arsenal.
It is vital for Pep Guardiola that his side play two other title contenders within a fortnight of their clash with Brentford. A reversal of last weekend’s result means City are once again favorites to win a fourth successive title, with Liverpool and Arsenal having to find a way to end their dominance.
City have won their last five league games and are in good form to wrap up the title race. Former Liverpool defender Carragher does not believe Guardiola’s side will drop too many points before the end of the season, but the TV pundit believes it would be a mistake to focus on City’s form. But he believes the key to taking down a champion lies in the game itself.
“I think from Liverpool and Arsenal’s point of view it will be an upset and City will come back and play, but both Arsenal and Liverpool have to play City,” Carragher told Sky Sports.”To win the league you have to beat City. Then the other team you play will probably be the favorite for most of the games you play. I don’t think the players and fans should focus too much on what Manchester City are doing.
