This will be a very important milestone for the Green Bay Packers. The Packers are looking to take a big step forward in 2024 after making the divisional stage of the playoffs in 2023. By the end of the season, Jordan Love and the Packers’ offense had set the stage for a playoff run. But that won’t stop the front office from adding to the offense if they find the right pieces.
Gutekunst hasn’t made a habit of pursuing big-name players in free agency, so we can expect the Packers to be more active in the second and third waves. With Green Bay’s defense still weak, continuing to add depth to the defensive front seven should be a priority.
The Packers finished the regular season 28th in rushing yards allowed and 23rd in carries allowed. If the Packers play aggressively, players like defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and linebacker Patrick Quinn would be perfect free agent targets. Defensive lineman Dorrance Armstrong and running back Anthony Walker Jr. are potential free agents. But it is much more realistic.
What happened with Savage and Owens could put safeties like Jeremy Chinn and Jordan Whitehead on Green Bay’s radar. With Bakhtiari out, Green Bay could help solve the problem as well. What happened with Savage and Owens could put safeties like Jeremy Chinn and Jordan Whitehead on Green Bay’s radar.

He was responsible for nine penalties and six sacks, according to Pro Football Focus.Unfortunately, the fishing tackle market in 2024 is disappointing. The Packers aren’t a strong candidate for a blockbuster trade, but Gutekunst could consider it if a top player becomes available.
Expiring players like running back Jonathan Jones or wide receiver Mike Williams could be of great interest to the Packers. After tearing his ACL against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3, Williams’ tenure with the Chargers could be over.
Even though Williams is under contract through the 2024 season, the Chargers will likely cut ties with him. Last season’s contract restructuring showed that, and the selection of Quentin Johnston in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft confirmed it. Williams’ salary for the 2024 season is $32.4 million. Not only is that a huge blow to anyone with an ACL injury, it’s also one of the biggest blows in the league. However, the Chargers could free up $20 million in cap space by releasing Williams. The Packers will likely acquire the 29-year-old wide receiver relatively cheap this offseason.
From 2018 to 2022, Williams averaged 15 games per season, 892 yards per season and six touchdowns per year. He was less productive in 2017 and 2023 because it was his rookie season and the season he tore his ACL (in 2023).Veteran curators may wish to renew their careers by signing a contract with a candidate. That’s where Jordan Love and the Packers can come into play.
