The Green Bay Packers are working toward a milestone. After exceeding expectations by advancing to the divisional round of the 2023 playoffs, the Packers have set bigger goals for 2024. Jordan Love and the Packers offense found their groove late in the season and advanced to the second round of the playoffs.
However, the defense left a lot to be desired at times. A report recently came out that may be helpful.

SportsBleacher Report’s Christopher Knox outlines how this could happen. Gutekunst hasn’t made a habit of pursuing big-name players in free agency, so we can expect the Packers to be more active in the second and third waves. With Green Bay’s defense still weak, continuing to add depth to the defensive front seven should be a priority. The Packers finished the regular season 28th in rushing yards allowed and 23rd in carries allowed. If the Packers are aggressive, players like defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and linebacker Patrick Quinn would be perfect free agent targets.
Defensive lineman Dorrance Armstrong and running back Anthony Walker Jr. are potential free agents. But it is much more realistic. What happened with Savage and Owens could put safeties like Jeremy Chinn and Jordan Whitehead on Green Bay’s radar. With Bakhtiari out, Green Bay could help solve the problem as well. What will Queen do for the Packers?
Sports2020 first-round pick Patrick Quinn’s fifth-year option was not picked up by the Baltimore Ravens.
In hindsight, the decision doesn’t look good at all, as Queen totaled 133 tackles and earned second-team All-Pro honors. The Queens could outplay the Ravens because Roquan Smith was paid by the team last season. The former LSU linebacker is expected to receive a contract worth $18.5 million per year.
But the run defense is their biggest weakness this season, and the Packers are willing to spend money on it. The combination of Quay Walker and Patrick Queen will immediately create one of the best ILB duos in the NFL and will have a significant impact on the Packers defense all night long.
