Mohamed Salah has been urged to stay at Liverpool beyond this season. Egypt’s incredible goalscoring form shows no signs of slowing down this season. Salah scored 15 goals and provided seven assists in 24 games in all competitions, scoring his 200th goal for United in a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. It comes after the 31-year-old was heavily linked with a £150million move to Saudi Arabian Pro League side Al Ittihad last summer.
Salah was offered a basic salary of £100m, a private jet and an option to buy shares in the club at a later date, but Liverpool were keen to keep their talisman.
Salah still has the chance to join former team-mates Fabinho, Roberto Firmino, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson in the Middle East next summer. But legendary Reds striker Ian Rush, who left Anfield for Leeds in 1996, believes the two-time African Footballer of the Year still has enough left to reach the top level.
I hope he gets a new contract, that would be great,” Rush told the Liverpool Echo. After that he spends another year. He is a great professional and young players can learn from him. I want him to extend his contract. I don’t know what will happen but I’m sure Liverpool fans will love it. “I left because I wasn’t playing regularly. I just wanted to play football. I didn’t want to sit on the bench. It is for you to see. I left here to go to Leeds United because I wanted to play every week. Do you think Mo Salah will leave Liverpool this summer?
