Liverpool target has admitted he was caught by surprise when Liverpool tried to sign him last summer and but did not find it difficult to reject the Reds. Arne Slot’s side had agreed to pay the Real Sociedad midfielder’s release clause, only for the Spain international to U-turn at the 11th hour and reject their advances. With Ryan Gravenberch instead shining as Liverpool’s number six this season, the Reds admittedly have few regrets regarding how their failed pursuit turned out. But now Zubimendi, whose future in San Sebastian remains the subject of speculation and scrutiny despite his decision to stay…

‘Tis the season. Christmas is just around the corner, and it could prove to be a huge festive period for Liverpool. Liverpool will look to end a mini-two match Premier League “slump” that has seen them held to consecutive draws with Newcastle and Fulham. Oh sure, Phil Coutinho made a mockery of the Premier League during that snapshot period in 2017 when he sat behind Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Bobby Firmino, but then he forced his way out to Barcelona for a staggering £142m fee at that season’s midpoint, proving to be a watershed moment. Liverpool have plenty of reasons to be wary of a formidable Tottenham Hotspur side this Sunday, but over time, one player has proven to be a particular thorn in their side when these two teams clash. The South Korean forward seems to take particular delight in giving Liverpool and ex-manager Jurgen Klopp a hard time. Trent Alexander-Arnold has won all there is to win at Liverpool, and it now seems as though his main source of motivation is his desire to leave a legacy as an individual. “I think in 10, 15 years, if I’m spoken about as one of the best right-backs, or the best right-back, then that’s what I’m playing for now and using it as motivation,” the Liverpool star recently said. Soccer players often preach the importance of team success over solo accolades, but Alexander-Arnold is not afraid of saying how he truly feels; this is a player, after all, who said…

Michael Owen says he would be willing to speak to Trent Alexander-Arnold about a potential move to Real Madrid should the Liverpool star wish to gather his advice. The 45-year-old famously swapped Merseyside for Madrid himself in 2004. He only spent 12 months in Spain, having scored 16 times in 46 appearances amid a trophy-less season. Owen moved to Newcastle United in 2005 but has since revealed how he ultimately wanted a return to Liverpool, something which never came to fruition. The forward left the Magpies in 2009 to join Manchester United for three seasons before finishing his career at…
