Liverpool have just a week to wait before they are able to add to their squad via the transfer market. The January window is fast approaching, and with it sees increased speculation about the business that the Reds may want to conduct ahead of the second half of the season.
Arne Slot has been enjoying his first season as Liverpool’s new head coach, with the Reds holding a four-point lead at the top of the Premier League table going into Christmas. Boxing Day will be when Slot and Co. next return to action when they host Leicester City at Anfield in the top flight.
The clash against the Foxes will be Liverpool’s final home fixture of the calendar year before the January transfer window opens. As the New Year approaches, the rumours about potential incoming signings intensify and that is not likely to change in the days and weeks ahead.
Liverpool have been handed a blow in their reported quest to sign AC Milan star Christian Pulisic. The Reds have been tentatively linked with a move for the United States international in recent weeks as the January transfer window fast approaches.
According to Calciomercato, Milan are putting plans in place to stop Liverpool from signing Pulisic. It has been claimed that the Serie A club are plotting to offer the former Chelsea star a new contract in order to fend off interest from interested clubs, which they report includes Liverpool.
Pulisic’s current contract with Milan is set to expire in 2027, with the Italian giants reportedly having the option to extend the deal by a further year. Reports have also claimed that Liverpool would face competition from Manchester United for Pulisic’s signature, but may find themselves out of the race if the forward agrees a new deal with Milan.
