It’s been a sensational start to the season for Liverpool under Arne Slot, although the Reds still have some big issues to resolve as January draws near.
Sunday’s draw at Arsenal means Liverpool sits just a point behind Premier League leaders Manchester City – a position few would have expected before the start of the season. Goals from Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah secured what could prove to be an important point in the title race.
Both players, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, still need to sort out their futures though, with their contracts set to expire at the end of the season. Once the January transfer window opens, they’ll be able to negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs, meaning the race is on for Liverpool.
Reds today, including a potential replacement for Van Dijk, as well a player being compared to one of the greatest ever.
Kenan Yildiz (Juventus)
Liverpool and Arsenal are looking into the possibility of signing Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz, according to CaughtOffside. The 19-year-old is already making a name for himself, having scored twice at the weekend to rescue a point for his club in a thrilling 4-4 draw at Inter Milan.
Not only that, but Turkey U19 coach Soykan Baskar has suggested he could be even better than one of the greatest players ever. “Yildiz is more talented than Cristiano Ronaldo. His technique with the ball is superior to that of Portuges
It will be interesting to see whether Yildiz gets more chances at Juve now and whether he can kick on from those two goals. If he can, he’s certainly someone to keep an eye out for in the future.
Murillo (Nottingham Forest)
Liverpool is ‘seriously’ considering a move for Nottingham Forest defender Murillo, according to TEAMtalk. It’s claimed that the Reds have drawn up a shortlist of targets amid the uncertainty over Virgil van Dijk’s future, with the Brazilian set to be monitored closely for the remainder of the season.
Sporting CP star Goncalo Inacio and Sevilla’s Loic Bade are also said to be on Liverpool’s list. Murillo is also of interest to Chelsea, although the Blues may have other areas to sort out before looking at a new defender.
