Liverpool steamrolled AFC Bournemouth this weekend with the Reds securing a 3-0 win as all three goals were scored in the opening 37 minutes.
A Luis Diaz brace followed by Darwin Nunez’s first goal of the season was enough for Liverpool to bag the three points and to return to winning ways in the English top-flight, with Arne Slot’s side top of the Premier League stands at the time of writing.
With Nunez winning praise from the Liverpool manager, it was a good day at the office for the Anfield side, who after last weekend’s historic Premier League loss will be glad to get back to winning in a comfortable fashion.
And Chris Sutton highlighted how energetic one Liverpool player now looks under Slot.
Speaking to BBC Sport, the pundit was full of praise for Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who once again impressed in the no. 6 role alongside Alexis Mac Allister as the Dutch international continued his incredible start to the season.
With Caoimhin Kelleher also impressed by Gravenberch’s performances this season, the former Bayern Munich has really come into his own at Liverpool this campaign after a mixed first year at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp.
And for Sutton, Gravenberch looked incredibly energetic for Liverpool against Bournemouth, with the youngster giving the Cherries some real problems with his driving runs from the midfield and his movement on the ball.
Sutton said on Gravenberch’s energy levels against Bournemouth: “Gravenberch has got that burst, that yard to get away from players and drive forward. All sorts of movement on the ball, from 30 yards out he’s just walloped it.”
Gravenberch’s first year with the Reds did little to excite Liverpool fans that they had signed a player once viewed as one of the most exciting prospects in all of Europe during his breakout at Ajax.
Yet this season has changed that perspective completely, with Gravenberch looking like one of the best midfielders in the Premier League under Slot and a player reborn after a difficult first year at Anfield.
Alongside Mac Allister, Slot has stumbled upon the perfect midfield system for Liverpool this season, and Gravenberch is proving to be the heartbeat of the entire team with the Dutch youngster a driving force for Slot.
