Liverpool players have been settling into a new way of working during pre-season so far.
Right the way through the club, from established first-team stars to youngsters in the academy, everyone was used to the methods of Jurgen Klopp.
Whatever Klopp and his coaching staff were doing was obviously working. Liverpool were mightily successful during the German’s time at the club.
However, change can often be a good thing in football and it will perhaps be refreshing to have some new ideas at the AXA Training Centre.
Slot has certainly brought those. Curtis Jones has been raving about the new head coach, while Mo Salah has reportedly been impressed, too.
Adrian reveals Mo Salah conversations
One of the biggest challenges Slot will face at Liverpool will be getting the biggest players in his first-team squad onboard.
Klopp brought all of them to the club and there will be a few who are in need of being won over by the new head coach.
With most of the key men still away on holiday, Salah is really the only one to have been working with Slot already.
The Egyptian is a notoriously hard worker and a real role model for the younger players in training. It really is fantastic to have him about right from day one of the Slot era.
And according to former Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian, Salah himself is just as happy, too.
Adrian is preparing for a Reds reunion just a couple of weeks after leaving the club. His new side, Real Betis, are of course Liverpool’s opponents in Pittsburgh on Saturday morning.
Ahead of that match, Adrian spoke to The Athletic and shared what he’s been told about Slot and his training methods by good friends Salah and Kostas Tsimikas.
“I speak almost every day with many of the squad — Kostas Tsimikas, Mo Salah,” says the Spaniard.
“They tell me they like it, the ideology is the same as with Jurgen. To be intense, direct, play with pace, press high, be brave. Liverpool’s squad is made for that. So the new coach will know how to adapt well to the players he has. And I wish him the best.”
Liverpool prepare for pre-season bow
There has been a lot of talk about how well things have been going in training so far this pre-season.
As well as Jones’ comments, Dominik Szoboszlai has spotted a ‘difference‘ between the work under Klopp and Slot, too.
Up until now, Liverpool supporters have not been able to see that work on the training ground in action. That will soon change, though.
Adrian and his Betis side will take on the Reds at Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium very early on Saturday morning.
For those Liverpool supporters minded enough to stay up and watch, it sounds like they could well be in for a real surprise. We can’t wait!
