Jurgen Klopp is out of the door after he produced and wrote a historic trophy-winning chapter for one of English football’s great teams.
Liverpool will now be hoping to re-write that under Arne Slot and there are several young stars he will be looking to transform.
One of them is Harvey Elliott. The 21-year-old is one of Liverpool’s most exciting players and you feel you can build a midfield around him.
But he isn’t the only 21-year-old fans are excited to see next season. Elliott broke onto the scene as a fresh-faced teenager.
Whereas Jarell Quansah had a breakthrough campaign and was unlucky to miss out on England’s Euro 2024 squad.
Virgil van Dijk is looking for that regular partner for next season and you feel Quansah could be the guy to partner the Dutchman.
Quansah posted footage on Instagram of him in action during the past 12 months, including winning the League Cup.
In the comments section of the central defender’s post, Elliott labelled him a ‘a joke’ and he was followed by a number of his Liverpool teammates.
Jarell Quansah at Liverpool next season
‘A joke,’ wrote Elliott after watching footage of Quansah.
Stefan Bajcetic added by saying: ‘Beast’ and James Balagizi called him ‘unreal brother’.
There is promise with Quansah and excitement at what he can become, but Liverpool still need to bring in another centre-back.
Yes, Joe Gomez deserves his England call to Euro 2024, but his best work this season has been at left-back and not at the heart of defence.
Joel Matip has now left, whilst the Reds can’t rely on the fitness and injury record of Ibrahima Konaté.
So, one of the first needs for Slot is to bring in a proven centre-back because the defence fell apart during the final few months of the season.
