Liverpool fans have just over a week to prepare for an emotional final day against Wolves. It is highly unlikely that there will be a Premier League title on the line but the Reds will be bidding farewell to Jürgen Klopp.
The German is bringing the curtain down on his incredible nine-year tenure, with Arne Slot primed to take over. A compensation package has been agreed with Feyenoord for the Dutchman but nothing has yet been confirmed by either club.
Despite that, Liverpool is continuing to be linked with reinforcements in the transfer window, ahead of a potentially busy summer at Anfield. Joël Matip and Thiago Alcântara will be among those to depart when their contracts expire this
There is also speculation over the futures of Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz, and Slot will have some big calls to make when he takes over. Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are both out of contract in a year’s time, too.
Mohamed Amoura (Union Saint-Gillloise)
Liverpool is reportedly keen on making a move for Algerian international Mohamed Amoura this summer. The 24-year-old forward joined Union Saint-Gilloise last summer and has shone in Belgium, scoring 21 times in 33 matches.
He featured against Liverpool in the Europa League earlier in the campaign, scoring one and setting up another in his side’s 2-1 victory back in December. According to L’Equipe, Liverpool has made contact over a potential move.
Amoura, who is known for his blistering pace, only moved to Europe with Swiss outfit Lugano in 2021 and could be set for a third club in just four seasons. He has three years remaining on his current deal and it is claimed Union SG would be looking for $22m (£17m/€20m) to let him go this summer.
Liverpool is likely to face competition from the Premier League, if it does make a formal bid. The report states that Brighton and Tottenham have both made enquiries about Amoura.
Crysencio Summerville (Leeds)
Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville remains on Liverpool’s radar, reports Give Me Sport. Summerville was named Championship Player of the Season after scoring an impressive 19 goals.
That wasn’t enough to secure automatic promotion though, with Leeds now entering the play-offs. It is claimed that Leeds is braced for offers for its star man, if it is unable to secure a return to the Premier League.
Leeds currently values Summerville at around $44m (£35m/€41m) but may have to accept less than that, should it remain in the Championship. Dutch outlet 1908.nl reports that incoming boss Arne Slot is a big fan of his countryman but both Leeds and the player will wait until the end of the season before making a decision.
