On 4th May, Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur will make the trip to Anfield to take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
That game is going to have a huge say on the Premier League title race and also on who secures Champions League football.
There are going to be many great battles out on the pitch, with Dejan Kulusevski sharing his admiration for Virgil van Dijk.
The Tottenham winger stated that the Liverpool captain is the toughest defender he has faced and also admitted that players like that can be ‘annoying’, as he told Premier League Productions (18/03/24 at 5:40 pm).
After the issues of the previous campaign, many believe this is Virgil van Dijk back to his best and starting to play the football that saw him win the Premier League title and the European Cup.
Yes, that FA Cup defeat to Manchester United is still going to hurt because it was very damaging.
But that still doesn’t hide that Virgil van Dijk is still one of the best in the world and the £220k-a-week star was lauded by Tottenham’s left-footed Swede.
Toughest defender
“Van Dijk,” responded Kulusevski on the toughest defender he has faced.
“Them fast players. You know when somebody is really fast and can be annoying.”
Bad weekend for Liverpool and Tottenham
This international break has probably come at the right time for Liverpool and Spurs after the shambles of the weekend.
Even though the Reds were leading 2-1 at half-time, and 3-2 in extra-time, they still managed to get dumped out of the FA Cup by their biggest rivals.
Then Tottenham, well summed up themselves by beating Aston Villa last weekend and then following it up by getting outclassed by Fulham.
All in all, a weekend to forget if you are a Liverpool or Spurs supporter.
