Luis Diaz’s agent has reportedly set a huge transfer fee for the Liverpool winger.
Diaz joined Liverpool from FC Porto during the January transfer window in 2022, in a deal worth a reported fee of £37 million.
Since then, the Colombian international has scored 22 goals in 85 appearances across all competitions.
Over the last few weeks, Diaz’s future at the club has been questioned.
It has been reported that Liverpool could even sell the winger during the summer transfer window, a few clubs in Spain are said to be interested in signing the 27-year-old.
Now, as reported by El Heraldo, Diaz’s agent has told Barcelona that they will have to part ways with €120 million to €140 million if they want to lure him away from Anfield.
On Sunday, Diaz was criticised after he squandered two huge chances during Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Manchester City.
The match ended 1-1, meaning Arsenal are now the new league leaders, with Jurgen Klopp’s side second on goal difference and City a point behind in third place.
Speaking after the match, Reds boss Klopp spoke about this season’s scintillating Premier League title race.
He said: “We have 10 games to play, so obviously nothing is decided. There are plenty of games. The next one in the league is Brighton at home, traditionally it is not our favourite opponent. It is not that we think, ‘Thank God it’s Brighton.’
“They play really good football and that is a tough game for us. At one point we play Tottenham here, we have to go to Aston Villa and stuff like this. City play Arsenal, play Tottenham and Aston Villa as well.”
The German added: “So many teams are fighting, so much quality. The only thing I need for the moment, I would prefer to have 30 points between us and all the other things, but the realistic thing is are we really in that race from a performance point of view?
“Today I saw a team that is in the right position, so now let’s see what we can do.”
Liverpool and Manchester United reportedly sent scouts to watch a player that could be the next Luis Diaz.
Back in January 2022, Diaz left Portuguese side Porto for Liverpool for a reported fee of £37 million.
Since then, the Colombian has scored 21 goals in 83 appearances across all competitions for the Reds.
However, Diaz’s form dropped last season due to a knee injury. At the start of the current campaign, the forward had to endure a major off-field issue after his parents were kidnapped in Colombia.
Now, it has been reported that both Liverpool and United’s scouts were in attendance for Porto’s 5-0 win over Benfica over the weekend.
One of the players they will be keeping an eye on would have been Wenderson Galeno, who has been impressing many this season and scored twice against Benfica.
Galeno could be the next Diaz as he was originally signed to replace the Colombian when he moved to Liverpool in January 2022.
Aside from Liverpool and United, it is believed that scouts from Arsenal, Newcastle United and Aston Villa were also at the match.
It has recently been claimed that Liverpool could sell Diaz in the summer transfer window.
However, that decision will be dependent on whether Mohamed Salah decides to extend his stay at Anfield.
Salah has often been linked with a move to the Saudi Professional League, Al Ittihad showed interest last summer but ultimately failed to lure the Egyptian away.
Al Ittihad reportedly made a bid worth more than £200 million but it was quickly rebuffed by the Anfield club.
Liverpool’s decision to keep the 31-year-old has proved to be correct as he has played a huge role in their season so far.
To date, Salah has made 28 appearances across all competitions for the Reds, scoring 19 and assisting 10.
However, the forward has missed Liverpool’s last few matches due to a reoccurrence of the hamstring he suffered during the African Cup of Nations in January.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s victory against Nottingham Forest, Jurgen Klopp gave a brief update on Salah’s progress.
He said: “I don’t think Mo is too far off but he will not be on the pitch tomorrow and from there we have to go.
“Touch and go, Mo is a bit longer, maybe next week is possible, he is on the way back, definitely. Not for tomorrow.”
Liverpool could reportedly sell Colombian star Luis Diaz this summer on one condition.
Back in January 2022, Diaz completed his move to Anfield from Portuguese side Porto in a deal worth a reported £37 million.
The Colombian hit the ground running straight away and quickly became a fans’ favourite.
To date, the 27-year-old has scored 21 goals in 82 appearances across all competitions for the Reds.
However, Diaz’s form dropped last season due to a knee injury. At the start of the current campaign, the forward had to endure a major off-field issue after his parents were kidnapped in Colombia.
In recent weeks, Diaz started to produce the kind of football we saw in his early Liverpool days.
Despite his recent upturn in form, it has been claimed that Liverpool could offload the winger in the summer transfer window.
As reported by The Sun, Liverpool’s main priority in the summer is to tie down the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah to new contracts.
It is believed that if Salah decides to extend his stay at Anfield, Liverpool could be open to selling Diaz, with clubs in Spain reportedly interested.
The report also stated that Liverpool are aware that conversations with their biggest stars cannot commence until they have a new sporting director and a replacement for Jurgen Klopp sorted.
So far, Liverpool have been linked with the likes of Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi, Thomas Frank, Ruben Amorim and Ange Postecoglou as potential replacements for Klopp.
Transfer Specialist Fabrizio Romano has also claimed that the Reds are going to try and lure former sporting director Michael Edwards back to the club.
Liverpool are back in Premier League action this weekend when they travel to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.
Luis Diaz’s father has reportedly been rescued from a kidnapping in Colombia following a shootout that left two of his captors dead.
Both Diaz’s mother and father were taken by armed gunmen on motorbikes while travelling from their home in Barrancas on Saturday.
His mother, Cilenis Marulanda, was rescued after the Colombian attorney general’s office assembled a team of investigators to look for the couple.
The player’s father, Luis Manuel Diaz, was later rescued on Sunday morning following a deadly shootout between the kidnappers and the Colombian police.
The Mirror has reported that local media from the La Guajira region claim Diaz’s father was freed following a police rescue mission, which resulted in the deaths of two of the four kidnappers.
The incident is said to have taken place in an area called Los Barrancones, near Colombia’s border with Venezuela.
It is claimed the kidnappers intended to smuggle Diaz’s father into the neighbouring country.
There is yet to be official confirmation that Diaz’s father has been rescued by the local authorities.
Diaz himself is yet to comment but Liverpool have released a club statement confirming the club is supporting the winger.
“Liverpool Football Club can confirm it is aware of an ongoing situation involving the family of Luis Diaz in Colombia,” read the statement.
“It is our fervent hope that the matter is resolved safely and at the earliest possible opportunity. In the meantime, the player’s welfare will continue to be our immediate priority.”
