Rodri has spoken about Liverpool and the Man City star was rightly respectful of the Reds. He also mentioned Anfield, which could yet play another crucial role.
Liverpool and Manchester City played out an enthralling 1-1 draw at Anfield on Sunday, leaving the Premier League title race wide open. Arsenal, after a late winner against Brentford, currently leads the way, but there are still 10 fixtures each left to play.
It would be the dream ending to life on Merseyside for Jürgen Klopp if his side could lift the league title again. And Manchester City midfielder Rodri was left impressed with the Reds after the latest match-up between the sides.
“We need a break. We have the FA Cup game (against Newcastle) and then go to the international teams so it will be good for us to refresh and give the last push at the end of the season,” he said, via the Liverpool ECHO.
“We know how good we are in the last part of the season, we just need to charge the batteries again and focus on the last 10 games. It seems you have to win nine or 10 games to win this Premier League. This is the challenge and we are going to go for it. An incredible game. We started really well in terms of chances and dominance and I think it was quite good. The second half was their half.”
Liverpool turned things around after the interval and played much better in the second half. It was only a controversial penalty decision near the end that ensured the teams finished level and Rodri admitted that Anfield played its part.
“Of course with the crowd and the way they played and pressed, we weren’t clinical enough to find the spaces,” the Spaniard continued. “We made a few mistakes but with the high press it is difficult, you are not precise with the ball and that’s what happened in terms of the penalty (awarded against Ederson).
