Kentucky fans will have several opportunities to see one of Mark Pope’s future Wildcats around Lexington this fall.
Ryan Hampton, one of Kentucky’s top commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, is already making plans for multiple trips to Lexington. Hampton’s family told KSR that the highly regarded prospect is expected to make two visits to Kentucky in October, giving Big Blue Nation an early chance to get familiar with a player who will eventually wear the Wildcats uniform.
Hampton is scheduled to be in Lexington for Big Blue Madness on October 2. He is then expected to return the following week for the Kentucky football game against LSU on October 10.
But Hampton’s October visit will include more than just taking in Kentucky athletics.
On October 10, Hampton will host a free youth basketball camp at the Lexington Ice Center & Sports Complex from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. The camp will be open to boys and girls in first through eighth grade.
Campers will have the opportunity to learn from Hampton while also receiving a souvenir autograph, a group photo with the future Wildcat and a limited-edition Ryan Hampton Basketball ProCamp T-shirt.
Hampton’s father, Rod, explained that the goal is to combine instruction with plenty of fun for the young players.
“He’s been coached hard his whole life, so I think this is going to be a camp where he is around kids, and he’s going to make it really fun for them, but he’s going to teach them the fundamentals of the game,” Rod Hampton told KSR.
The event will give Hampton an opportunity to connect with the Lexington community well before he officially arrives on campus.
Although Kentucky fans will have to wait until the 2027-28 season to see Hampton play for the Wildcats, his growing connection with Lexington is already becoming evident.
Between his upcoming appearances at Big Blue Madness, the LSU football game and his youth basketball camp, Hampton is set to spend plenty of time around Big Blue Nation this fall.
