Wilkins recently revealed that the version of Pope Big Blue Nation calls “Dark Pope” absolutely exists once the Wildcats step inside the practice gym. While Pope is widely known for his upbeat personality and positive energy in public, his coaching style becomes much more demanding when practice begins.
According to Wilkins, Pope expects excellence from every player on every possession. Mistakes don’t go unnoticed, film sessions are thorough, corrections are immediate, and players are constantly being challenged to improve. His coaching philosophy is built on accountability, not comfort.
