Kentucky’s summer practices have already given Big Blue Nation plenty to be excited about, but one player has separated himself from the rest of the roster.
Sophomore guard Trent Noah has emerged as the Wildcats’ most impressive performer throughout the offseason. Head coach Mark Pope and several teammates have praised Noah’s development, with practice analytics reportedly showing him leading the team in points per possession by a significant margin.
Noah’s growth has been impossible to ignore. After spending the offseason adding strength and confidence to his game, he has become one of Kentucky’s most physical perimeter players while continuing to showcase the shooting ability that made him one of the state’s top high school prospects. His improved all-around game has allowed him to consistently make winning plays on both ends of the floor.
While Noah has stolen much of the spotlight, he hasn’t been the only Wildcat making a strong impression during summer workouts.
Point guard Zoom Diallo has embraced the leadership role, directing the offence with confidence and serving as one of the team’s most vocal players on the court. His command of the game has helped establish the pace and organisation Mark Pope expects from his team.
In the frontcourt, Malachi Moreno has continued to show why NBA scouts remain intrigued by his potential. The sophomore centre has anchored the paint with his size, rim protection, and improving offensive game, keeping himself firmly in the conversation as a future first-round draft prospect.
Highly regarded transfer Milan Momcilovic has also lived up to expectations. Widely known as one of college basketball’s best shooters, he has consistently stretched defences during scrimmages, creating space not only for himself but also for his teammates.
Freshman guard Mason Williams has quietly become one of the biggest surprises of the summer. Despite being new to the programme, Williams has impressed coaches with his calm decision-making, accurate passing, and smooth outside shooting, suggesting he could earn meaningful minutes sooner than expected.
The overall message coming out of Kentucky’s summer practices is clear: this roster is loaded with talent, competition is fierce, and players are pushing each other every day. Yet even among so many standout performances, Trent Noah has established himself as the player setting the standard.
If his summer form carries into the season, Kentucky could have one of the biggest breakout stars in college basketball wearing blue this winter.
