Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats continue to keep a close eye on one of the nation’s fastest-rising prospects, and five-star center Lewis Uvwo gave the coaching staff another reason to make him a top recruiting priority during Nike Peach Jam.
Already holding a scholarship offer from Kentucky, the 6-foot-10 big man delivered a dominant all-around performance while playing alongside Wildcats 2027 commit Ryan Hampton. Uvwo finished with 10 points, nine rebounds, and an eye-popping 10 blocked shots, showcasing the elite defensive instincts that have made him one of the most coveted players in the 2027 class.
His ability to protect the rim was on full display, repeatedly denying opponents at the basket and altering countless other shots. Uvwo also displayed his athleticism on the offensive end, finishing lob opportunities and running the floor with ease.
The chemistry between Uvwo and Hampton was another encouraging development for Kentucky. Seeing the two five-star prospects thrive together gives Mark Pope even more reason to envision them anchoring the Wildcats’ future.
Kentucky, however, faces stiff competition. Uvwo has also received offers from several national powers, including Alabama, Arkansas, Duke, Kansas, and Louisville, and his recruitment is expected to intensify as more programs evaluate his recent performances.
With the possibility of replacing key frontcourt talent in the coming years, Kentucky has every reason to continue prioritizing Uvwo. His combination of size, shot-blocking ability, athleticism, and energy makes him an ideal fit for Pope’s system and one of the Wildcats’ most important recruiting targets moving forward.
