The offseason is still in its early stages, but the buzz surrounding North Carolina basketball is already impossible to ignore. As the Tar Heels continue their summer workouts, several players have stood out, with one name consistently generating the most excitement: Utah transfer Terrence Brown.
Brown has wasted no time making an impression since arriving in Chapel Hill. The 6-foot-8 senior guard has reportedly been one of the top performers throughout the team’s offseason workouts, showcasing an impressive scoring ability, confidence with the ball in his hands, and the versatility to impact the game in multiple ways.
His early performances have fueled optimism that he could become one of the ACC’s breakout stars and a major piece of North Carolina’s success this season.
While Brown has attracted much of the attention, he hasn’t been the only player turning heads.
Returning senior Jarin Stevenson has emerged as one of the team’s vocal leaders, using his experience to help set the tone during workouts. His leadership and consistency have provided a valuable foundation as the Tar Heels integrate several newcomers into the program.
Sophomore transfer Matt Able has also impressed with his offensive game. Known for his perimeter shooting, Able has displayed the ability to stretch the floor and provide another dependable scoring option for head coach Hubert Davis.
Another newcomer making an immediate impact is Neoklis “Neo” Avdalas. The versatile 6-foot-9 guard has shown excellent court vision and playmaking ability, while his size allows him to create mismatches across multiple positions.
In the paint, freshman center Sayon Keita has adapted quickly to the college level. The 7-footer from Barcelona, Spain, has already showcased his rebounding, rim protection, and physical presence, giving North Carolina another intriguing piece in the frontcourt.
Although summer workouts are only one step in preparing for the season, they often provide an early indication of which players are ready to take on larger roles. So far, Brown has consistently been among the most impressive performers, and his strong start has only increased expectations for what he can accomplish in a Tar Heel uniform.
With experienced leaders, talented transfers, and promising young players all making positive impressions, North Carolina appears to be building momentum well before the season begins. If these summer workouts are any indication, the Tar Heels may have assembled a roster capable of making plenty of noise once the games begin.
