Federal court documents have outlined a series of allegations against former college basketball standout , who has been indicted on five counts of wire fraud in a case being prosecuted by federal authorities.
According to the indictment, prosecutors allege that Kriisa carried out a fraud scheme between 2022 and June 2, 2026, using false identities, fabricated stories, and deceptive communications to obtain nearly $2.2 million from multiple victims. The allegations remain unproven, and Kriisa is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Court documents claim that Kriisa repeatedly used emotional stories to persuade victims to send money. Among the allegations are claims that he falsely said he and his family were in danger, that his mother required expensive cancer treatment, and that family property urgently needed financial assistance. Prosecutors also allege he impersonated other individuals, including fictional contacts and family members, to make the requests appear more credible.
The indictment further alleges that Kriisa convinced two victims to send repeated payments over several years. In some instances, prosecutors claim he instructed one victim to transfer money to another under false pretenses. Five specific wire transmissions are identified in the indictment as the basis for the federal wire fraud charges.
Another allegation outlined in the court filing involves a written repayment agreement. Prosecutors claim that in April 2025, Kriisa signed a document promising to repay one victim $100,000 by February 2026, but allege that the agreement itself was part of the overall fraudulent scheme.
In announcing the indictment, U.S. Attorney said financial fraud can have devastating consequences for victims who believe they are helping someone in genuine need. He stated that his office remains committed to investigating and prosecuting those accused of exploiting others through deception.
