Former Kentucky guard Kerr Kriisa is officially returning to Lexington after being announced as the newest member of La Familia, Kentucky’s alumni team competing in The Basketball Tournament (TBT) this summer.
Kriisa joins a growing roster that already includes former Wildcats Willie Cauley-Stein, Reid Travis, Archie Goodwin, Andrew Harrison, and Kahlil Whitney as La Familia prepares for a run at the tournament’s $2 million winner-take-all championship.
The Estonian point guard spent the 2024-25 season at Kentucky during Mark Pope’s first year as head coach. His time in Lexington was cut short after suffering a season-ending injury during the Wildcats’ overtime victory over Gonzaga, limiting him to just nine games. Before Kentucky, Kriisa played three seasons at Arizona and one season at West Virginia before finishing his collegiate career at Cincinnati in the 2025-26 season.
With his college career now complete, Kriisa is expected to begin his professional career overseas after TBT concludes. Before taking that next step, he’ll have one final opportunity to wear Kentucky colors and help La Familia compete for the tournament title.
La Familia is still finalizing its roster ahead of the event, with Sean McNeil, Chris Coffey, and James Mainor-Bell also expected to be part of the team.
TBT has introduced a new format for 2026, reducing the field to 16 teams. The first round will feature best-of-three series before the tournament shifts to a single-elimination format.
La Familia will open against Louisville’s alumni team, The Ville, in a rivalry matchup beginning on July 18 at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington. Game two is scheduled for July 20 at Freedom Hall in Louisville, while a third game, if needed, will be played on July 22 in Lexington.
Kriisa’s return gives Big Blue Nation another familiar face to cheer for as La Familia looks to bring the TBT championship back to Kentucky.
