One of the fastest-rising stars in high school basketball has officially changed classes — and Kentucky is already heavily involved.
Elite guard Adan Diggs announced that he is reclassifying from the 2028 recruiting class into the 2027 class, confirming what many recruiting insiders had already expected. The move immediately keeps him among the very top prospects in the nation, as Rivals still ranks him the No. 1 overall player in 2027.
The timing is especially notable for Kentucky fans because Mark Pope and the Wildcats recently extended a scholarship offer after Diggs exploded during Nike EYBL action.
Playing for Vegas Elite, Diggs has been one of the most dominant offensive players on the circuit. Across the first two EYBL sessions, he has averaged:
19.6 points per game
6.0 rebounds per game
3.4 assists per game
1.7 steals per game
During one standout weekend in Memphis, Diggs averaged an incredible 22.7 points while shooting blistering percentages from the field, helping solidify why so many major programs are now chasing him aggressively.
Kentucky is far from alone in the race. Programs such as Arizona, BYU, Kansas, Alabama, USC, and UCLA have all entered the picture early. But the Wildcats may already have a unique connection.
When discussing players he studies and models his game after, Diggs named two names that immediately caught the attention of Big Blue Nation:
“I watch a lot of Devin Booker and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. They’re the two main ones right there.”
That comment instantly sparked excitement among Kentucky fans, considering both NBA stars became elite guards after their time in Lexington.
Diggs also made it clear what he wants most from a future college destination.
“I want to go to a winning program,” Diggs said. “A coach where they are going to let me come in and prove myself to play immediately and be able to showcase my talent on the biggest stage.”
For Mark Pope, that sounds almost perfectly aligned with the vision he has continued selling to elite recruits since arriving at Kentucky.
The reclassification now changes the timeline completely. Instead of being a future name to monitor years from now, Diggs officially becomes one of the biggest recruiting storylines in the 2027 class immediately — and Kentucky is already right in the middle of the conversation.
And with Pope aggressively building relationships early, BBN already believes this recruitment could become VERY interesting over the next few months.
