The Milan Momcilovic is currently at the NBA Draft Combine, and his latest comments provide an important update for the Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball.
Speaking with CBS Sports reporter Isaac Trotter, Momcilovic said he remains fully focused on the draft but is keeping the option open to return to college before the May 27 withdrawal deadline.
“I’m still focused on the draft,” Momcilovic said. “I haven’t even talked to any colleges yet, but I’m sure if I have to go back, there is a spot open for me somewhere. I’m still going through this process.”
He added that he will complete the combine and then participate in several private workouts with NBA teams over the next two weeks before making his final decision.
According to Trotter, Kentucky, St. John’s University, and University of Louisville are among the leading contenders if Momcilovic decides to withdraw from the draft.
The talented forward made it clear that he would prefer to remain in the draft only if he receives a guaranteed first-round contract.
“If there are guaranteed contracts, that would be good. If it’s later in the second round, those are usually two-way contracts, then I’d probably go back. We’ll see,” he said.
If he returns to college, Momcilovic wants to find a situation where he can play to his strengths, boost his NBA stock, and compete for a deep run in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament.
For head coach Mark Pope and the Wildcats, this may be the final opportunity to add a proven star to the 2026–27 roster. Known as one of the top three-point shooters in college basketball, Momcilovic would be a major addition to a team already loaded with talent.
If Malachi Moreno also returns, Kentucky could have the pieces necessary to make a legitimate Final Four push next season.
The next two weeks will be crucial as Momcilovic gathers feedback from NBA teams and determines whether his future lies in the NBA or back in college basketball. For Kentucky fans, his latest comments provide every reason to remain optimistic.
