It looks like Kentucky basketball could be inching closer to a brand-new practice facility. According to Jon Hale of the Lexington Herald-Leader, the UK Board of Trustees’ athletics committee is set to meet Thursday, and on the agenda is the launch of a predesign process for a new multi-use athletics complex — one that may include a basketball-specific facility.
Kentucky’s current training home, the Joe Craft Center, first opened in 2007. By today’s standards, nearly two decades of use makes it prime for an upgrade, and UK seems ready to explore options for modernizing — or possibly replacing — it. For a program that prides itself on being the gold standard of college basketball, an updated facility could go a long way in keeping Kentucky ahead of the competition.
Recruiting Weekend: Holt & Adams Visit Lexington
The Wildcats also wrapped up a big recruiting weekend. Head coach Mark Pope and his staff hosted 5-star guard Caleb Holt and 4-star forward Maximo Adams, two of the most highly regarded prospects in the 2026 class.
Kentucky is still searching for its first commitment in that class, but early signs suggest the staff made a strong impression. Photos from the visits fueled plenty of excitement among fans, who can easily imagine both wearing Kentucky blue in the near future.
Landing Holt won’t be easy — Alabama and Auburn are pushing hard to keep the top-5 prospect close to home. Still, securing an official visit to Lexington was an important first step in the pursuit.
As for Adams, Kentucky may have a unique edge. His brother played for Pope at BYU, giving the Wildcats a personal connection that could help when decision time comes.
