Former Kentucky Wildcat Jaxson Robinson has signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, marking a significant milestone in his basketball career. Robinson, known for his sharpshooting and defensive prowess, is expected to make a strong impression in the upcoming summer league.
Robinson’s path to the NBA wasn’t without challenges. Despite suffering a wrist injury that threatened his prospects, he persevered and caught the attention of the Cavaliers. His impressive college career, where he averaged 13 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game, showcased his potential as a prototypical 3&D wing. Robinson was a finalist for the Julius Erving Award honoring the nation’s best small forward in 2024-25 and started all 24 games in which he appeared.
With his signing, Robinson joins a Cavaliers team looking to bolster its scoring options. He’ll have the opportunity to team up with draft picks Tyrese Proctor and Saliou Niang, as well as other talented players like Chaney Johnson and Denver Jones. Robinson’s ability to provide sharpshooting and defensive expertise makes him an attractive asset for the Cavaliers. The Cavaliers’ summer league roster includes other promising players like Denver Jones, Saliou Niang, and Norchad Omier.
Kentucky head coach Mark Pope, who coached Robinson for three seasons, expressed his pride and admiration for the young player. “It has been one of the highlights of my coaching career to spend the last three seasons with Jaxson Robinson,” Pope said, highlighting the strong bond between Robinson and his former team. Pope also noted that Robinson “was playing the best basketball of his career before his season was cut short and I’m ecstatic that he has earned this very well-deserved opportunity”.
As Robinson prepares to take the court with the Cavaliers in the summer league, he’ll be looking to prove himself and secure a spot on the team’s permanent roster. With his determination and skills, he’s poised to make a lasting impact in the league. The Exhibit 10 contract also provides an opportunity for Robinson to potentially earn a two-way deal or gain valuable experience in the G League with the Cleveland Charge.
