The New Orleans Saints are reportedly exploring options to replace quarterback Derek Carr, and one surprising name has emerged as a potential target: New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe.
According to sources, the Saints are considering a trade for Zappe, who is set to earn $4.2 million in the final year of his rookie contract. Zappe, a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has shown promise in limited action with the Patriots, throwing for 781 yards and five touchdowns in four appearances last season.
While Zappe’s experience is limited, his skillset and potential have caught the attention of the Saints’ front office. With Carr’s future with the team uncertain, the Saints are looking for a young, cost-effective option to lead their offense.
“Bailey Zappe is a talented young quarterback who has shown flashes of brilliance in his limited time with the Patriots,” said Saints head coach Dennis Allen. “We’re always looking for ways to improve our team, and if we can bring in a player like Zappe who can compete for the starting job
