Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table on Sunday evening with a comfortable 5-0 win over West Ham.
Arne Slot’s side scored three in the space of 15 minutes in the first half at the London Stadium with Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah all finding the back of the net. Trent Alexander-Arnold and substitute Diogo Jota then added a further two after the break.
Liverpool are now eight points clear of Nottingham Forest in second, although title contenders Arsenal and Chelsea can leapfrog the Midlands club with victories in their respective games this week. Manchester City also secured a much-needed win on Sunday and now sit 14 points behind the Reds, who have a game in hand.
Slot’s side are next in action on Sunday with the visit of bitter rivals Manchester United, who are currently 14th in the standings with just six wins from their 18 games so far. Liverpool will then face a couple of tricky away fixtures in the league with trips to Forest and Brentford.
