Liverpool hammered the Hammers on Sunday as they came away from the London Stadium with a bruising 5-0 win.
The Reds knew they could extend their lead at the top of the table to eight points with a victory in East London.
And despite some early threat from West Ham, Liverpool never looked in doubt on the night.
As he often as been this season, Mohamed Salah was the star of the show, the Egyptian bagging himself a goal and two assists.
It was in sharp contrast to Salah’s last Premier League visit to the London Stadium, when he was caught rowing with Jurgen Klopp before coming on as a second-half substitute.
And according to Salah, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk referenced that little spat before the Reds’ kicked off on Sunday.
Mohamed Salah reveals Virgil van Dijk jokes
Liverpool’s last visit to West Ham was indeed a bleak one. The Reds had just seen their title charge capitulate and the Liverpool squad was not a happy camp.
This was shown blatantly by the sight of Salah and Klopp having an argument as the then Liverpool manager ran down his time with the club.
Coming back this season, Salah is clearly in a much better place.
And asked about the contrast between the visit in 2023/24 and 2024/25, the 32-year-old said that he and his Liverpool teammates had been laughing about that fact before the game.
“There was a funny thing because the players before the game in the dressing room they were also saying ‘remember what happened here last year!’ And the guys were laughing,” chuckled Salah.
“Virgil started with it, so we had a little laugh with that! We had not a nice moment here last year but I’m glad this time we had a better one.”
“We are far away from that”
Salah continues brilliant form
Salah was a shadow of his old self around the time Liverpool last came to the London Stadium.
However, the Egyptian King has generally had a very good record against the Hammers and looked in the mood on Sunday.
In reality, Mo should have clocked up more than the three goal contributions he eventually managed.
The No.11 missed not one, not two but three clear cut chances to add to his tally. At least one should have been realistically taken.
Nevertheless, Salah’s goal was his 20th of the season, equalling the 26 games it took him to hit that same tally in 2017/18, when he went on to strike 44 times. In this kind of form, you wouldn’t bet against him beating that this season.
